Spuntino Wine Bar & Italian Tapas in Clifton, New Jersey offers an impressive selection of international wines and an expansive Italian menu. The marketing director and owner approached me to update their logo and branding guidelines, which were originally created in 2014. The goal was to elevate the logo design while maintaining the essence of the original, ensuring it felt updated but not completely redesigned. The updated logo features an updated version of the original font family, with the same distinctive curve for the name “Spuntino,” but with the removal of the dots above and below the tagline. This change makes the logo cleaner, more modern, and sophisticated. A new seal format was also created for their social media profiles, ensuring consistency across all digital platforms.
In addition to updating the logo, the branding guidelines were completely overhauled. Their existing brand book was redesigned to include new and expanded elements. The color palette was edited to incorporate warm neutrals, softening the brand and giving it a more inviting and sophisticated feel. Fonts were expanded to include playful retro styles that would be perfect for event promotions and social media graphics. This added flexibility for their internal team when creating promotional materials and event flyers.
Another key addition to the branding guidelines was a library of textures. These textures were inspired by the interior design of the restaurant, helping to create a cohesive visual experience that links the physical space with the updated branding. The guidelines provided the internal design team with inspiration and structure for creating everything from digital materials to printed collateral.
After the recreation of the logo and branding guidelines, Spuntino’s internal graphic designer was able apply the new branding to their website and update menus and promotional materials. I also created a custom logo for a special recurring wine event, enhancing the brand's presence and appeal to customers.
